This video is quite a bit different than what I normally cover on this channel as it's all about the rising (and insanely high) costs of going to design school in the USA.
Picking a design school that you're going to love going to and that has a solid design or art program is only a part of what you have to consider when trying to figure out what to do in the next stage of your professional life as a designer or artist.
A hugely important thing to keep in mind is the cost of the student loans, how much money you're going to be making as a designer, and if you can honestly afford to pay back those student loans once you graduate. With private design schools commonly charging $35,000+ a year in the USA the system has become fundamentally broken as the average design or art graduate has no real hope of realistically paying back those loans on the wages they can expect to receive.
It's important to note that I find education to be important (at a university or on your own), but it's important to consider all aspects of how the school will impact your future before making the final choice.
Sorry for the rant, but I'm really hoping to help some people better understand the costs of school and the expectations of paying the loans back before they end up finding themselves in serious debt like I did. It's a tough spot to be in and not something that I really want anyone else to have to go through.
