This tutorial goes over the basics of how to draw an Icon inside Adobe Illustrator, and is intended for beginners to Adobe Illustrator, or people looking for a bit of a refresher on some various drawing techniques.

The primary method of drawing inside this tutorial is a mixture of the pen tool, selection arrows, and the various shapes inside Illustrator. Using a combination of all of these tools allows for a huge range of potential shapes that you can create quickly and easily.

Some common shortcuts used:
V - Selection Tool (black arrow)
A - Direct Selection Tool (white arrow)
M - Rectangle Shape Tool
Hold Shift - Keep objects on same plane for accurate movement
Hold Alt (Option on Mac) when dragging: Duplicate that object
